The program will be designed to provide kids, with disabilities, ages 8-18, the opportunity to experience of the healing vibes of the ocean and surfing. Surfing provides a sense of freedom, fosters independence & self-esteem and over time may also enhance overall balance, coordination, and sensory functioning. This is a drop off program, however parents are welcome to stay on the beach and enjoy the day! There will be no charge for the program thanks to the generous donations and grants we have received. Before registering, please make sure this program is appropriate for your child, you child will be in the ocean and on the beach for 4 hours per day. Registration will open in the spring on a first come first serve basis. Space is limited. Surf for All instructors provide insight into ocean safety with language and visual modeling for a range of developmental levels.
With safety being of primary importance, all instructors are lifeguards and first aid and CPR certificated.
The program will be offered starting on Monday July 10th – Friday August 18th.
The Day: The program is designed by Cliff Skudin who holds a masters degree in physical education and a Professional Watermen and Dr. Jeanine Sorensen. Dr. Sorensen has been involved with surf for all for several years bringing students with disabilities surfing throughout the Summer as well as providing consultation to the organization. Dr. Sorensen holds a doctorate degree in school-community psychology. She has been working for the public school system for 16 years as a school psychologist with students of varying disabilities. In addition, our staff of surf professionals, offer a surf program that focuses on safety, skills, balance, education, recreation, etiquette and fun!
Introduction: Meet with beach lifeguards and certified NSSIA Surf instructors and discuss safety. Every morning we have a group meeting to review safety procedures.
Equipment: Surfboards and lycra top rash guards will be provided.
Land Instruction: Learn the “pop up” where students will be taught how to jump correctly from a prone position to a proper surfing stance and ride.
Instruction: The day will be split between surfing and recreational activities. Time in and out of the water will always be evenly distributed. The children will be amongst the best surfing staff from around the world working on surfing and social skills.
Ocean Surf Instruction: Surf instructor will be one on one with your child in the ocean. Professional and master surf instructors will be in the water assisting students in the correct way to catch and ride waves. No child will be alone in the ocean, surf instructors will be stationed with every child.
The Pros: Surf For All has become a home away from home for many of the worlds best professional surfers. With Will and Cliff Skudin on the Big Wave World Tour and all their world travels they invite the best of the best to teach along side local professionals. Every year brings in a new crew of professional athletes.
Here are some reminders for your first day:
- Make sure your child is prepared for a day at the beach; bring LUNCH, snacks, drinks, 2 towels, and sunscreen. Also apply sunscreen before coming on the beach and pack lunch in a cooler bag. All other item need to be labeled and in a back pack.
- The Medical Form and Waivers MUST completed during the online registration process which is then e-signed for your convenience.
- We will contact you via email by 7:00am ONLY if we have to cancel due to unsafe conditions in the ocean or heavy thunderstorms and tropical storm conditions. Or check our social media outlets and website for alerts.

The program is either 9:00 – 1:00 or noon – 4:00 depending on the week selected. Check in starts at either 8:30 or 11:30 depending on the week selected.
We will be offering a 5 day per week program, you may sign up for only 1 session. Due to program capacities, you may not transfer sessions. If you sign up for a specific session and are unable to attend we must be notified a week prior to start date. If we are not notified you will be charged a cancellation fee, as this program is in high demand and space is limited.
